Pre-K
AT HUDSON LAB SCHOOL
Where School Begins With Curiosity.
Introducing Pre-K | Opening September 2027
Big questions, little hands, endless possibilities. Our new Pre-K program brings Hudson Lab School's signature project-based learning to four-year-olds, where purposeful play, hands-on discovery, and joyful exploration lay the foundation for a lifelong love of learning.
At Hudson Lab School, we believe children are naturally curious, capable, and creative. Guided by thoughtful educators, our youngest learners investigate meaningful questions, build early academic skills, and discover the joy of learning together.
On our 26-acre campus in Hastings-on-Hudson, the world becomes an extension of the classroom. From imaginative play and outdoor adventures to tinkering, gardening, and collaborative projects, every experience invites children to wonder, explore, create, and grow.
The Classroom Experience
At Hudson Lab School, we believe early childhood education should be as thoughtful as it is playful. Our Pre-K experience combines intentional academic foundations, nurturing relationships, and project-based learning designed around the way young children naturally discover the world.
-
Big discoveries begin with small steps. In hands-on, skill-based groups, children explore early literacy, language, storytelling, number sense, and mathematical thinking at a pace that honors their individual development.
-
Our 26-acre campus is a living classroom, inviting children to run, climb, investigate, and discover something new each day. From adventures on the Great Lawn and in the Wild Playspace to exploring gardens and wooded trails, daily outdoor experiences spark wonder, strengthen growing bodies, and energize young minds.
-
Our youngest learners discover new ways to create and connect through Art, Music, Tinkering, Nature & Gardening, and Intergenerational learning. Sensory exploration, hands-on making, and meaningful intergenerational experiences with our neighboring senior community broaden children's perspectives and deepen their sense of belonging.
Our Mini Studios
Little hands. Big ideas. Endless possibilities.
At Hudson Lab School, learning happens everywhere. Our Pre-K Mini Studios invite children to explore, experiment, create, and connect through hands-on experiences that bring project-based learning to life. Each studio opens new possibilities for discovery, helping our youngest learners build confidence, follow their curiosity, and make meaningful connections across subjects.

Item descriptionFrom painting and sculpting to experimenting with color, texture, and materials, children discover the many ways art can bring their ideas to life. Through creative exploration, they develop fine motor skills, express their thinking, and learn that there is more than one way to approach a challenge.
-
Through singing, rhythm, movement, and playful experimentation with sound, children discover the joy of making music together. Music builds listening, language, pattern recognition, and collaboration while encouraging children to express themselves and explore new ideas.
-
Our youngest makers turn big questions into hands-on discoveries as they build, design, and experiment with tools and materials suited to their age. By testing ideas, solving problems, and trying again, children discover that mistakes are part of learning and every challenge is an opportunity to create something new.
-
Our 26-acre campus becomes a living classroom where children investigate the natural world, plant seeds, observe seasonal changes, and discover how living things grow. Through gardening and outdoor exploration, they develop scientific curiosity, learn to ask questions, and experience the joy and responsibility of caring for their environment.
-
Learning extends beyond the classroom through meaningful connections with older adults in our neighboring community. Through storytelling, art, music, and shared projects, children discover different perspectives, practice empathy and communication, and learn that curiosity and creativity bring generations together.
